Studio Rules and Regulations Class attire: To class, students need to wear appropriate dancewear, dance shoes and make sure their hair is up and out of their face. No t-shirts will be allowed in class except for hip-hop classes and the Adult Class. Ballet students are required to wear a leotard, tights, ballet shoes and hair up in a ponytail or bun. Ballet skirts are ok, but no shorts please. Proper dance etiquette is for students to ask permission to leave class early or enter if they are late. Students arriving more than 15 minutes late may only observe that days class, as they have already missed the valuable warm-up period. Please make your restroom stops prior to class time or during the drink break. Dance Dynamix does not send home notes. Parents and students are encouraged to keep up to date by reading posted notes, the message board or the website (www.dancedynamix.com). Dance Dynamix is not responsible for lost or stolen property. Parents are welcome to observe classes through our viewing windows at any time. However, we do ask that parents and siblings observe studio rules and regulations. Please keep siblings quiet in the hallway. Excessive noise creates a disturbance in the dance classrooms and for the parents trying to have a relaxing hour without kids in our waiting room. A recital is held annually (usually in the beginning of June). There is a participation fee of $35 per family (includes two complimentary recital tickets and one recital program). Dance costumes range from $45 to $75 each; with a 50% deposit due at the time costumes are ordered (the first of January). Deposits for recital are non-refundable. Students are requested to limit their participation to 10 or fewer dances for the recital. After March 1st, students missing two consecutive classes will be required to take one half-hour private to catch up on dance choreography. Specialty Numbers: During the year specialty numbers may be choreographed. Students will be invited to participate through prior approval with their parents. Selection is made by Miss Courtney or Miss Lindsay and based on several factors (i.e. size, technical dance level, etc). All costs associated with participation in a specialty number, along with performance requirements will be advised at the time the invitation is issued. Class Placement Our instructors determine class placement
based on technical dance level and emotional maturity. Students
will be moved to a more advanced level as they progress. Pawprints Pom & Dance Team (Itty-Bitty and Awesome): This company is by audition only. 1 year of the Pom and Cheer training class is a pre-requisite. Members are required to attend 1 ballet, 1 jazz and Pawprints class as a minimum. A tumbling class is very strongly suggested. The following guidelines outline the requirements for membership in Pawprints. Membership requires commitment from student and parent. If you cannot (or are unable) to commit to these requirements, please do not try out for this team. 1. All Pawprints are required to take three classes a week (1 ballet, 1 jazz, and appropriate Pawprint class). They are expected to set good examples in classes by being on-time, attentive, and in proper dress. 2. Pawprint members will participate in two-three parades during the 2006/2007 season – The Chandler Christmas Light Parade (usually held the first weekend in December or last weekend in November) and the Ahwautukee Easter Parade (usually held the Saturday before Easter Sunday) and possibly the ASU homecoming parade or Ostrich festival parade. Participation in all parades is MANDATORY. Advance notice is given for these parades as participation is extremely important since choreography is done for a "team" and absences result in "holes". Absences in the past have made too big of an impact on the rest of the team. This advance notice gives ample time to plan schedules. No excused absences will be given for parades unless extenuating circumstances occur as determined by Miss Courtney. If your Pawprint misses a parade, she may be dismissed from the Pawprints Squad. 3. Pawprints are required to attend one local convention/competition a year. They also attend one or two other local competitions and usually have two or three stage shows per year. 4. The last practice before any performance or parade is MANDATORY. If a Pawprint does not attend, she will not be allowed to perform in that performance/parade. 5. Pawprints wear the same costume every time they perform. Costumes will be around $100, including a pair of show poms. Pawprints are required to supply their own appropriate tights, shoes and socks. 6. Pawprint hair do is a very high, curly ponytail. Bangs need to be curled back and out of face. Make up is brown eye shadow and liner with a little mascara, a little blush and pink lipstick. 7. Recital participation requirements: All Pawprints are required to participate in their Pawprint routine as well as their appropriate Ballet and Jazz routines. The only additional routine would be the Pawprint novelty number. 8. Pawprints are required to be year-round students. They must participate in whatever summer dance program Dance Dynamix is offering. Please provide Miss Courtney with a copy of your summer vacation schedule. Members that drop out for the summer are not eligible to try out again for a period of one year and must re-take the Pom and Cheer Preparation Class. 9. Pawprint Member Commitment is one year (June 2006 through June 2007). Performing/Competing Company This company is by invitation and for serious dancers only. Members of the performing company are required to take a minimum of 8 classes: 2 ballet, 2 jazz, 1 tap, 1 tumbling, Leaps & Turns and the appropriate company class. Enrollment in lyrical jazz, hip hop, and strength & endurance/boot camp classes are strongly recommended. Performing company dancers compete or perform at a local stage show monthly and travel once a year to nationals usually in Las Vegas. Students and parents must be willing to commit to requirements and guidelines of the Performing/Competing Company (more info available upon request). Copyright © 2006 Dance Dynamix |
